LG has launched the world's first 84-inch 4K Ultra Definition 3D TV on August 22 in Korea.
The enormous TV is the world's first 4K Ultra Definition 3D TV of its size and will be rolled out across global markets next month following its debut at one of the world's largest consumer electronics shows IFA in Berlin next week.
The high-definition TV uses 4K technology -- meaning it has a resolution of up to 4096 x 2160 pixels, equivalent to over eight megapixels, and over four times the resolution of currently available HD; meaning that the TV can produce incredibly sharp images.
Speaking at the unveiling in South Korea, Havis Kwon, president and CEO of LG's Home Entertainment Company stated that, "LG's UD 3D TV represents a whole new level of home viewing experience because it offers every advanced technology we currently have to offer."
Even though 4K broadcasts are not on the immediate horizon, 4K TVs are expected to be a major trend in home entertainment this year with other major manufacturers such as Sony and Toshiba also rumored to be unveiling 4K TVs at IFA.
IFA is a showcase for some of the most advanced consumer electronics in the world and is often used as a product launchpad by big-name manufacturers. Held in Berlin, this year's event runs August 31- September 5.
