Former England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson was officially named technical director of BEC Tero Sasana on Monday, hoping to return the Thai Premier League club to its former glory.
Robert Procureur, the club's general manager, said the 64-year-old Swede will work closely with the staff of the Thai Premier League club starting with the next match against Chainat FC on Saturday. He will stay with the club until the end of the season.
The club and the new technical director will sit down to talk about his future with BEC Tero Sasana after the campaign is over, he added.

Mr Procureur said Mr Eriksson will be in charge of technical development and improving tactics for the players, and will be on the sideline of the pitch to help the staff coach in every match.
He hoped the arrival of the Swedish coach will motivate the players and improve the club.
Mr Eriksson has known Mr Procureur and BEC Tero Sasana president Brian Marcar for years. Their sports relationship and his impression of the Thailand Premier League had led to his decision to join the team, he told a news conference.
The Swede coached Manchester City between 2007 and 2008 when it was under former fugitive prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra. He also guided Leicester City, the English Championship club owned by King Power Group, in 2010 before leaving the English club a year later. He was the England manager from 2001 to 2006.
The Fire Dragons are now fourth in the league table, 22 points behind league leader SCG Muang Thong United. The team won the league championship in the 2000 and 2001 seasons.
