Foreign prostitutes detained

BANGKOK - Police have detained 16 foreign prostitutes working at a massage parlour in Huay Kwang district, reports said on Wednesday.

A team of 30 officers led by Pol Maj-Gen Adul Narongsak, deputy chief of the Metropolitan Police, and Pol Col Boonsong Namakorn, superintendent of Huay Kwang police, raided night entertainment venues in Huay Kwang on Tuesday night.

The team found 16 foreign prostitutes, aged between 20 and 25, working at the High Class Entertainment Complex.

Police said none of the women had work permits and believed they were trafficked from Laos and Myanmar.

Thansit Chananchaivalee, the 57-year-old owner of the massage parlour, was arrested and charged with operating an illegal business.
