Big crater disrupts Vibhavadi traffic

BANGKOK - A two-metre deep crater appeared on Vibhavadi road on Tuesday morning, disrupting traffic, police said.

A section of the road in front of Vibhavadi Hospital was closed to traffic temporarily for repairs.

The hole was about two metres long and two metres deep.

On Aug 19, a large hole was found in the middle of Asoke intersection on busy Sukhumvit road.

Bangkok authorities said the hole was the result of subsidence caused by the Metropolitan Waterworks Authority's installation of new underground pipelines.

A 1.5-metre deep crater was found in Sukhumvit road on Aug 19, 2012. (Post Photo)
