Nine join peace programme in Yala

Nine villagers suspected of militant violence reported to Yala governor Dechrat Simsiri on Tuesday morning, saying they wanted to show their intention of joining the government's peace programme.

Four are suspected of involvement in violent incidents but there is insufficient evidence to issue a warrant for their arrest.  They are Waelamae Saising, 79, of tambon Bannang Sare, Muang district; Mada-o Salae, 1, of tambon Purong, Krong Pinang district; Abdulroman Pute, 28, of tambon Kabang, Kabang district; and Muktar Kaso, 43, of tambon Kabang, Kabang district.

Three are defendants in security-related cases who were released on bail.  They are Mayupri Ya-ae-so, 27, of tambon Sako, Sungai Padi district; Hatom Luebaeluwong, 29, of tambon Yaha, Yaha district; and Ruradi Lima, 27, of tambon Tano Pute, Bannang Sata district.

The two others were defendants in security-related cases who were acquitted by the court.  They are Soma Loramae, 26, of tambon Poseng, Muang district; and Solif Apibanbae, 27, of tambon Sadawa, Yarang district.

Mr Dechrat said that from October 2009, when the Yala Peace Outreach Centre, was established to April 3 this year, 209 people had reported to the authorities to join the peace programme.
