The Supreme Court on Wednesday upheld lower court verdicts sentencing a former police officer in Kamphaeng Phet province to 42 years and six months in prison for having methamphetamine pills in his possession with intent to sell.
Former Pol Lt-Col Prasit Klinhom, 69, who was a deputy police superintendent of Kamphaeng Phet, and his common law wife Payao Palapol, 53, were arrested on May 23, 2002 by undercover narcotics suppression police in a sting operation in Phran Kratai district of Kamphaeng Phet with 598 methemphetamine pills and a .357 pistol in their possession.
The court of first instance on June 30, 2003 sentenced Payao to 14 years and Prasit to 42 years and six months in jail. Mrs Payao's sentence was commuted to seven years.
Prasit appealed. The Appeals Court upheld the lower court's judgement and sentence.
He took his case to the Supreme Court.
The Supreme Court today upheld the sentence.
