Warning: Heavy rain, flash floods

The National Disaster Warning Centre on Thursday morning issued a warning for people in 11 provinces in the North and Northeast to prepare for heavy rain and flash flooding triggered by tropical storm Gaemi on Friday and Saturday.
People living in risk areas near hillsides and waterways in Nan, Uttaradit, Sukhothai, Phitsanulok, Kampaengphet, Petchabun, Ubon Ratchathani, Chaiyaphum, Surin, Si Sa Ket and Nakhon Ratchasima should prepare for heavy rain, flash flooding, forest run-off and possible landslides, it warned.
The Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department reported on Thursday that nine provinces are still hit by flooding. It was affecting 1,746 villages and 221,849 people in 38 districts.
These provinces are Phitsanulok, Phichit, Suphanburi, Angthong, Ayutthaya, Nakhon Pathom, Samut Prakan, Prachin Buri and Chachoengsao.
