Chaturon 'for new Pheu Thai leader'

Chaturon Chaisaeng has come first in a survey on who should be appointed the next leader of the ruling Pheu Thai Party, Suan Dusit Poll revealed on Sunday.

The poll was conducted on 1,152 people throughout the country between Oct 9-11.

Asked who should be Pheu Thai's new leader, Mr Chaturon, a former executive of the dissolved Thai Rak Thai Party, came first with 25.58% support, followed by Pol Lt-Gen Viroj Pao-in with 23.59%, Phumthai Wechayachai 22.26%, Jarupong Ruangsuwan 15.61%, and Pol Gen Priewpan Damapong 12.96%.

Pheu Thai will hold a general assembly on Oct 30 to elect the new leader, replacing Yongyuth Wichaidit who has resigned.
