PHUKET - A 37-year-old Mozambique woman was arrested and about 6kg of ice or crystal methamphetamine worth 21 million baht on the street was seized on her arrival at Phuket Airport from Malaysia on Saturday afternoon.
Monthira Cherdchoon, chief of the customs office at Phuket international airport, said the woman, Hotencia Ferreira Novela, travelled from Mozambique via Kenya, Qatar and Malaysia.
She arrived at Phuket on Flight QR624 from Kuala Lumpur at 4.30pm on Saturday.
Customs officials found in false compartments of her baggage 6kg of crystal methamphetamine.
The woman said she had been hired for 50,000 baht to deliver the drugs to customers in Patong Beach. The woman was charged with having drugs in her possession with intent to sell.
This was the largest drug haul at Phuket's international airport, Mrs Monthira said.
