Abductor returns child to family

Chachoengsao - A young boy has been returned to his parents by his abductor, who put him into a cab sent him home, police said.

Kiattipoom Suphan,  or Nong Champ, 9, was kidnapped from his school in Bang Nam Preaw district on Oct 11. Four days later he was put in a cab and sent home by his abductor.

Cabbie Samphan Keawsawai, 50, told police a man hailed his taxi in Pra-inracha district in Pathum Thani province and told him to deliver the boy to Bang Nam Preaw district.

He said the boy told him during the ride that he had been kidnapped from  school.

The driver then asked the boy for his parents’ phone number and contacted them and the police, asking they meet them at a petrol station to collect the boy.

Kawin Suphan, the boy’s father, said he filed a complaint with the police after his son was taken from his school.

According to witnesses, the abductor came into the school during lunch hour and offered to buy ice cream for the children.  The stranger asked Nong Champ to help him carry the ice cream for his friends.

He then took off on a motorcycle with the boy. The other children called on the janitor for help, but it was too late, police said.
