CHON BURI - A South African national killed himself at a shooting range in Bang Lamung district on Monday, reports said.
Police said they responded to a report that a man shot himself with a rented gun at the Pattaya Inter shooting range.
Jonathan Osbourne Gok, a reputed millionaire from South Africa, was found lying on the ground with a gunshot wound to his right temple and a 9mm gun on the floor next to him.
He was rushed to Pattaya Memorial Hospital but doctors were not able to save his life.
An employee at the shooting range told police that the man rented the gun for practice.
As soon as he got the firearm he shot himself right away, to the horror of other customers and employees there.
Police said the body would be sent for autopsy to officially determine the cause of death and they would advise the South African embassy so that his family could be notified.
