LOS ANGELES - Pop star Madonna addressed the plight of 14-year-old Pakistani activist Malala Yousafzai, who was shot twice in the head by the Taliban, by stripping on stage during a showe on her MDNA tour.
Madonna, 53, stripped down to her bra and panties for her fans to reveal the name “Malala” scrawled on her back.
Her stance, she said, “is to support education and support the people who support women” accoording to a report on the nydailynews website.
At the concert held in Staples Center in Los Angeles last Wednesday, the pop icon told the crowd, "This made me cry".
“The 14 year old Pakistani girl was shot on a schoolbus for writing a blog about how important education was to her. The Taliban stopped her bus and shot her ... Do you understand the sickness and absurdity of this?” she added.
Madonna also dedicated a song in the show, “Human Nature” to the young Pakistani hero.
Yousifazi is in critical condition fighting for her life. She was flown to United Kingdom for her treatment yesterday.
Madonna has also expressed her political viewpoint in several shows of the tour. On other stages, she spoke about the presidential election and the conviction of the punk rock band Pussy Riot.
