Liverpool to play Thai team

English club Liverpool will play a friendly in Bangkok next year, the Football Association of Thailand (FAT) said on Wednesday.

FAT president Worawi Makudi said the Reds will come to Asia for their preseason tour with Thailand one of their stops.

FAT secretary-general Ong-arj Kosinkha added that Liverpool will play in Bangkok on July 24 at Rajamangala stadium.

They have promised that all their stars will be in the squad including captain Steven Gerrard and striker Luis Suarez.

Liverpool, who are currently 14th in the Premier League with six points, last visited Thailand in 2009 and drew 1-1 with the Thai national team.

The FAT has also been contacted by Premier League champions Manchester City who want to play a match here but both sides have not yet begun talks, Ong-art said.
