The twin releases of Pokémon Black Version 2 and Pokémon White Version 2 may be the first numbered sequels in Pokémon history, but does that mean we're in for the same old thing? Not on your nelly, says Nintendo, with 11 handy factoids to help you catch up with the two new kids on the block.
The 11 explanations cover links between the new pair and the original Pokémon Black Version and Pokémon White Version (plus the bonus for those who played one of the first), a rundown of the new areas to explore, an incentive to nab Black Version 2 or White Version 2 before November 12, and a handful of new features, such as the Pokémon World Tournament, the Pokémon movie creator Pokéstar Studios, shopping area Join Avenue, and a tweaked medal system for collecting and displaying in-game accomplishments.
Minor differences distinguish Pokémon Black Version 2 and Pokémon White Version 2.
As with previous releases in the Pokémon series, some 40 of the collectable creatures are exclusive to either Black 2 or White 2 -- but players can soon overcome this obstacle by trading Pokémon between themselves.
The games released October 7 in North America (June 23 in Japan and from October 12 in European regions).
Though the newer Nintendo 3DS handheld has been out for well over a year, racking up over 19 million sales in the process, the Pokémon sequels were actually produced for the old Nintendo DS, over 150 million of which are in the wild, while maintaining compatiblity with the 3DS.
