Records await buoyant Muang Thong

BEC Tero could still ruin unbeaten season

BEC Tero are SCG Muang Thong United's last obstacle in the Kirins' bid for three new records when they meet in the Thai Premier Leauge today.

The final round of matches is relatively meaningless as Muang Thong have already sealed the title and Thai Port, BB-CU and TTM Chiang Mai will go down to League One.

Muang Thong players celebrate winning the Thai Premier League; below, Marcello Lippi is carried off after Guangzhou Evergrande won the Chinese Super League.

But for SCG, there is still plenty to play for as they are chasing three records - an unbeaten season, the highest points scored and scoring in every game in one season.

Furthermore, Muang Thong striker Teerasil Dangda is vying for the top scoring award with BEC forward Cleiton Silva.

They both have scored 23 goals - one short of Ronnachai Sayomchai's record of 24 goals.

"I want to become the top scorer but the team's result must come first," Teerasil said.

Muang Thong must beat BEC to break Buriram United's record 85 points set last season.

Muang Thong director Ronnarit Suewaja said: "We want to create new records. We have come so far and there is only one match left. We don't want to fall at the finish line."

BEC director Robert Procuerer said: "We want to be the first - and only team - to beat Muang Thong this season."

Procuerer should know how to handle Muang Thong as he used to be their general manager before going to BEC this season.

In their meeting at SCG Stadium this season, Muang Thong defeated BEC in an ill-tempered match with one player from each side sent off.
