Salsa Bangkok presents the Kingdom's biggest Salsa and Latin dance event from tomorrow until Monday.

This year's four-day "Salsa Bangkok Fiesta" will feature dance performances followed by a dance party with top international DJs until 1am every night, 20 dance workshops with world-class instructors on Saturday and Sunday, a Sunday afternoon pool party and a farewell event on the rooftop on Monday.

Dedicated to "Bringing the world together", the annual event is for people of all ages and cultures to enjoy Salsa, Bachata and other Latin music and dance.

Hundreds of dancers are expected to travel to Bangkok for the event. The first two nights, tomorrow and Saturday, will feature performances by some of the best dancers, at Grand Galaxy club on Rama IV Road, starting at 8pm. Two-time Salsa World Champion Jhesus Aponte and his partner Sheila De Jesus are tipped to be the highlight. Both are performing in Thailand for the first time.

Other top stars include Spanish Bachata guru Inaki Fernandez, one of Europe's top instructors and performers, and Christina Haggerty and Mike Ticas from the US who have extensive experience in shows and TV presentations.

Among the invited DJs are Salsa DJ legend Henry Knowles from New York, accompanied by two top Japanese Salsa DJs Rodrigo (Kyoto) and DJ Ajad (Tokyo) and Bangkok-based Dr Salsa (France).

More shows will be given by dance artists and groups from Australia, New Zealand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, India, South Korea, Japan and Thailand.

The festival also includes dance classes from international instructors in the afternoons at the weekend. The workshops will be held at Flava and Flava Lite at Dream Hotel on Sukhumvit 15.

For the first time Salsa Bangkok will hold a pool party at the Sofitel So at Lumpini Park on Sunday from 2pm to 7pm.

The fiesta will conclude with a farewell party at Next Rooftop bar of Fenix Hotel on Sukhumvit Soi 15 on Monday from 8am to noon.


Ticket prices range from 800 to 1,200 baht for the night parties from tomorrow to Sunday (300 baht for the pool party on Sunday) while the workshop fee is 600 baht per class. Tickets can be purchased from Rumpuree dance studio at Amarin Plaza, and La Rueda Dance Studio on Sukhumvit Soi 18.
