SAMUT PRAKAN- About 1,000 Buddha statues were found on the side of the road on Saturday evening.
Police said a villager came across the religious statues near her home in Samut Prakan's Muang district.
The statues, both big and small, were inside about 40 white bags.
After questioning people in the area, police said they did not know who was the owner and they did not see anyone leaving the bags.
Police believed the Buddha statues might belong to some temples or Buddhist centres outside the area.
The statues were taken to Bangpu station until they are claimed.
