The government under Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra received an average score of 6.67 out of 10 after last week's cabinet reshuffle, according to the results of an Abac Poll revealed on Sunday.

The poll was conducted between Oct 30-Nov 3 on 2,189 people aged 18 and above in Bangkok, Chanthaburi, Lop Buri, Pathum Thani, Chon Buri, Phichit, Phetchabun, Chiang Mai, Mukdahan, Nong Khai, Chaiyaphum, Surin, Udon Thani, Khon Kaen, Phatthalung, Surat Thani and Nakhon Si Thammarat provinces.

The margin of error was plus or minus 0.7.

The average score for the government after the reshuffle was 6.67 out of 10.

A majority, or 56.3%, thought Ms Yingluck had, as a result, gained more leadership confidence while 43.7% said otherwise.

Asked how the people should adjust themselves to the reshuffle, 74.9% said they should give the government a chance to work and let the law handle justice.

On political rallies, a majority or 59.1% said they never saw one which was followed by a change in public policies which could lead to better living conditions while 40.9% said otherwise.

A great majority, or 79.1%, wanted to see a policy change after a political rally.

However, 81.4% of the respondents said the present political situation was more like a catalyst for violent conflict among the people than a factor to ease the people's suffering.

A majority, or 66.3%, were even concerned the existing political conflict would further escalate.

On the forthcoming censure debate, a majority or 68.6% did not think it would lead to any change in the government.

About 87% of the respondents said Ms Yingluck should reply to questions raised during the censure debate by herself and 87% said the prime minister should attach importance to the parliamentary system in solving the country's problems.
