Blow for Thailand futsal team

The Thai futsal team suffered a 5-3 defeat against Ukraine in their second Group A match at the 2012 Futsal World Cup at Hua Mark Indoor Stadium on Sunday.

Thailand attempted a spirited fightback after trailing 5-0 in the first half but their efforts came up just short.

Thailand coach Victor Hermans said Saturday he was confident his men could handle the Ukrainians.

"It will be a closely fought game," the Dutch coach said. "Ukraine are a dynamic team and I'm sure that they will attack us from the start. We must stay focused on defence."

Thailand will meet Paraguay, who were beaten 6-3 by Costa Rica, at 7pm Wednesday at the Hua Mark Indoor Stadium. The Thais must beat Paraguay to advance to the next round.
