Transport minister sets priorities

Transport Minister Chatchart Sittipan said on Monday he is setting up consultation with Airports of Thailand (AOT) this week about resolving issues at Suvarnabhumi airport and Don Mueang airport.

Mr Chatchart said he wants to hasten the construction of Don Mueang airport’s new departure lounge to accommodate the increasing number of travellers.

He said he wants to see preparation for the completion of runways three and four at Suvarnabhumi Airport and settlement of noise pollution claims.

Mr Chatchart said the expansion of the Air Port Link rail service should start at the beginning of next year. The shuttle bus service that transports passengers between Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang airport also needs to be improved because of increasing demand.

He also said he expected the cabinet to approve the appointment of Prapat Jongsanguan as the new governor of the State Railway of Thailand in Tuesday's weekly meeting.
