Five companies of police will be deployed at the Royal Plaza, Government House and parliament and nearby areas to maintain law and order during the planned rally by village chiefs and kamnan on Wednesday, police said.

The village headmen and kamnans plan to protest against the  government's bill which sets a limit on the terms of new office holders. Incumbent elected village chiefs and kaman serve until mandatory retirement at 60.

Deputy national police chief Woraping Chiewpreecha today called a meeting to plan the police operation.

Pol Gen Worapong said three police companies will be stationed at and around the parliament building compound, another company will be on duty at Government House and another company at the Royal Plaza and nearby areas.

The police deployment willbegin at 6am tomorrow, he added.

He was confident that the rally would be peaceful. About 7,000 village chiefs and kamnans were expected to join the rally.

Traffic police chief Pol Maj Gen Piya Uthayo said it was reported that the village chiefs and kamnans would travel to Bangkok by about 500 buses.

The buses would be allowed to take them to the Royal Plaza and then the bus drivers must park their vehicles at the prepared areas on Kampaengphet 1 and 2 roads, inside the State Railway garden and on Bhudamonthon Sai 1 and 2 roads.

Motorists are advised to refrain from using Ratchadamnoen road and areas near the Royal Plaza on Wednesday.
