BANGKOK - A 30-year-old man threatened to stab himself in the throat with a knife after he refused to pay for services at an internet shop on Wednesday night.

"If you’re going to charge me, you’ll have to kill me," said Chaiyarat Chaiyaruk.

Mr Chaiyarat held a small knife to his throat as he walked from the internet shop to a nearby bank.

Reports said he had been playing games for more than 20 hours straight. Other gamers in the café said the man might have been stressed out from playing shooting games and Facebook or problems with a woman he is seeing.

Police took two hours to calm the man down before taking him to a police station. Police will seek a psychiatric test for further diagnosis.
