According to Vulture.com, the British director is working on a movie about Edgar Rice Burrough's vine-swinging hero and his simian friends. The Warner Bros project is still looking for an actor in the title role, and David Yates is said to have met three candidates: Henry Cavill, the next Superman; Charlie Hunnam, who plays a biker in Sons of Anarchy; and Alexander Skarsgard, the Scandinavian vampire in True Blood.

Tom Hardy (Bane in The Dark Knight Rises) is reportedly the studio's favorite choice for the role of the jungle-bred orphan son of British aristocrats.

Tarzan's adventures have led to numerous movie adaptations. Swimmer Johnny Weissmuller is perhaps the most remembered by fans.
