Man beheads wife's meddling friend

Chiang Mai - A Lahu man has admitted to murdering and beheading a woman he said had tried to persuade his wife to leave him.

On Thursday, police received a report a woman's body had been found near Mae Wang Noi waterfall, tambon Ban Luang, Chom Thong district, Chiang Mai province.

At the scene, investigators found a headless body beside the falls. The head was discovered nearby, and so was a one-metre long bamboo stick and a 55cm knife.

The body was later determined to be Sirikarn Pisitphonom, 34, from Fang district.

Police identified Bu-ei Poola, 22, a Lahu man, as the main suspect. His wife was also the victim's friend.

When authorities went to his house Bu-ei was already waiting to turn himself in.

He confessed to the killing, saying that he bludgeoned the victim many times with the bamboo stick before hacking her head off with the knife.

Police said that the man was angry with the victim because she had tried to convince his wife to leave him.
