Bangkok Airways, JAL code-share partners

Bangkok Airways has embraced Japan Airlines (JAL) as its latest code-share partner.

The agreement covers selected JAL flights between Bangkok and three airports in Japan plus Bangkok Airways flights between Bangkok and four Japanese destinations starting this Thursday.

The partnership will give passengers travelling from Tokyo's Haneda and Narita airports and Osaka a smoother transit through Suvarnabhumi airport and onwards to Mumbai, Koh Samui, Phuket and Chiang Mai and vice versa.

The airlines have also agreed on a reciprocal mileage tie-up that will enable Bangkok Airways's FlyerBonus members to redeem award tickets on either airline for departures from this Thursday.

Peter Wiesner, a senior vice-president of Bangkok Airways, said the partnership will offer better flight connectivity for passengers connecting from long-haul routes with JAL to Bangkok for onward journeys to Mumbai.

Moreover, Koh Samui, Phuket and Chiang Mai have great potential to attract tourists, especially Japanese.

"We believe this partnership will offer a unique service for Japan Airlines passengers and will strengthen Bangkok Airways' extensive network as well as boost tourism in Asia," said Mr Wiesner.

Bangkok Airways' 10 code-share partners include Etihad, SilkAir, Malaysia Airlines, Air France, KLM and EVA Air.
