The wait is over for all those environmental enthusiasts. A video clip called "Give Me 3 Words" presenting the phrase "carry, combine and reuse" won the hearts of the panel of judges of the Kidtoong Kidtoong (Think Twice Before Using a Plastic Bag) competition.
Sukpichai Kanachang, winner of the Kidtoong Kidtoong (Think Twice Before Using A Plastic Bag) competition, left, with the two runners-up, Ketsarin Klaitin and Nattapon Jamjanya.
The competition, organised by CP All Public Company Limited, the operator of the 7-Eleven convenience stores, was held to promote responsible usage of plastic bags under the theme "reduce, reuse and recycle".
From a total of 280 participants, the seven with the highest votes were selected to present their creative works in the final round, in front of the audiences at Digital Gateway Siam Square, in addition to viewers on www.kidtoong.com.
Renowned commentators joining the panel of judges included film director Komkrit Treevimol and the president of the Thai Webmaster Association, Siwat Chawareewong.
The winning video clip, "Give Me 3 Words", was by Sukpichai Kanachang, a travel and tourism management student from Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University. Sukpichai's work conveyed the message of how to easy it is to reduce the use of plastic bags in many ways.
"You can begin by choosing other materials that can be substituted for a plastic bag such as cloth bag or basket," he said. "This can be followed by reducing the number of plastic bags each time where you can put many things in one plastic bag or you can reuse it regularly. This can help cut the consumption of natural resources in the end.
"The winning work is an ideal video clip for the ad campaign as it is simple and brief yet comprehensive and easy to follow," said Komkrit. "The 'Give Me 3 Words' phrase is also popular among teenagers nowadays. When you want any opinion on whatever, you use this phrase to ask for it. It is short and direct to the point." The first runner-up was Ketsarin Klaitin with her "Recycle For Mom" clip which tells a funny story about how to decrease the use of plastic bags in daily life.
The second runner-up was Nattapon Jamjanya's "Fold, Carry, Say" which presents an inspirational short story about the problem of plastic bag waste while suggesting practical ways to deal with this issue.
The Kidtoong Kidtoong (Think Twice Before Using A Plastic Bag) competition was organised in line with CP All Plc's ongoing CSR campaign under the theme "7 Go Green".
