The godfather of designers' sportswear collaborations, Adidas Originals, has recently premiered its latest partnership that marks a new step in the German sportswear giant's collaborative knack.
Porsche 911 S trainers, 5,590 baht.
No, it's not with any avant-garde or visionary designers (that's Puma with Hussein Chalayan, we must say). Adidas partners with Porsche Design for the autumn/winter 2012 collection, delighting those who care much less about those names Adidas has collaborated with in the past (Jeremy Scott and Stella McCartney). Speed luxury with state-of-the-art sportswear technology. Bold and sleek automobile with street cool. The Adidas Originals by Porsche Design is a real treat for real men who live for speed and swear by funky aesthetics.
The Porsche Type 597 Jagdwagen winter boots, 6,590 baht.
The iconic Porsche models that serve as inspiration for the collection include the 911 S, 917 and Type 597 Jagdwagen, with the 917 lending its iconic figure to trainers, track tops and trousers, and a polo. The silhouette of the 917 trainers takes its cues from the Porsche's rear engine, which can be seen on the perforated rubber heel, with a distinctive Porsche badge on the midsole giving it a sharp twist, while another Porsche 917 badge is on the heel patch.
The Type 597 Jagdwagen trainers come in the silhouette of a winter boot with the profile of its outsole inspired by the original Jagdwagen's tyre and the metal vintage Porsche logo. Premium leather is used on the upper, which is mostly black, while the ankle padding shows a hint of red.
Another pick would be the 917 track trousers, which offer a new approach to the classic Adidas track trousers _ this time featuring the iconic three stripes on the inner leg, instead of the outer. A badge sits just below the right pocket, a Porsche Design logo on the back, just under the waistband, while the thick drawstring features antique gold aglets sporting "Original Driving" on them.
