Police ordered to not join in rally

Pol Gen Adul Saengsingkaew, the police chief, has issued an order prohibiting police from taking part in a rally which hopes to topple the government in a democratic way, warning they would face severe disciplinary action.

Deputy police spokesman Pol Maj-Gen Thana Chuwong said the the order instructed police commanders of all levels to make sure their subordinates understand that joining in the rally would be a violation of Section 68 of the constitution.

Violators of this order are liable to administrative and disciplinary action, the spokesman said.
