'Stun gun robbers' behind bars

BANGKOK – Two men who used a stun gun to rob several women in the street have been arrested in Rat Burana district of Bangkok.
Metropolitan Police chief Pol Lt Gen Kamronwit Thoopkrachang on Thursday announced the apprehension of Suradet Premmanuphan, 34, and Kachornpong Kachaphuek. Mr Suradet was arrested in front of his house in Rat Burana district.
Police received a good samaritan report about 9.30pm on Wednesday that a man had attacked a woman with an "electric gun" and stolen her purse.
A motorcycle taxi driver in the area followed the robber to his home and alerted the police.
The motorcycle taxi driver, Sunthorn Lamyai, said he was also attacked by the suspect during the pursuit. He was slightly injured, police said.
After interrogating Mr Suradet, police arrested his accomplice Mr Kachornpong at his home in Samut Prakan province.
The suspects admitted their crime, police said, and were charged with robbery, assault and carrying an unlicensed weapon in public.
