Sammitr Motors Manufacturing Plc, the auto-parts and logistics service provider, has been authorised to import and service Hendrickson International Corporation air suspensions from the US.
Air suspensions are a type of vehicle suspension powered by an electric or engine-driven air pump or compressor.
The companies will also co-develop the next generation of air suspensions for trucks and trailers.
Executive director Suriya Posirisuk, Sammitr's head of commercial vehicles and logistics, said Thailand's logistics costs amount to 20-25% of national GDP.
Minimising logistics costs to boost national competitiveness is Sammitr's mission, he said.
Road traffic, especially commercial vehicles, has jumped in recent years, and Thai production and sales of commercial vehicles will reach 40,000 this year.
In addition to providing transportation and logistics services, Sammitr is the No.1 commercial vehicle builder for trucks and trailers in Thailand and other Asean markets.
To prepare for the Asean Economic Community, Sammitr has expanded its sales and after-sales services network at home and abroad.
The company now has 72 sales and service centres in Thailand and eight in other Asean countries.
It will be represented in all Asean countries by the beginning of next year.
As well, Sammitr is negotiating with global partners to develop improved commercial vehicles.
