BANGKOK - US President Barack Obama arrived in Thailand on Sunday afternoon on a three-country visit to Southeast Asia that underscores a new US emphasis on the Asia-Pacific region.
He will visit Bangkok's Wat Pho temple, renowned for its giant reclining Buddha statue, before having an audience with His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej, 84. He also plans talks with Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra.
He will spend the night in the Thai capital before travelling Monday to Myanmar, where he will be the first US president to visit the former pariah state.
On Tuesday, he will attend the East Asia Summit in Cambodia.
