Dhanin wins regional recognition

Dhanin Chearavanont, CEO and chairman of the Charoen Pokphand (CP) Group has received the Lifetime Achievement award at the 11th Asia Business Leaders Awards on Friday.

The award was for his vision, leadership and business foresight in creating a group that has impacted and helped grow the economy not only in Thailand, but across the globe, according to a CNBC statement.

Aswin Techajaroenvikul, president of Berli Jucker Plc, was also named Thailand Business Leader of the Year in recognition of his leadership both in the Thai and international markets.

In addition to the two Thai executives, business leaders from South Korea, India and Singapore won at the ceremony, which was held at Siam Kempinski Hotel in Bangkok on Saturday.

Natarajan Chandrasekaran, CEO and managing director of India-based Tata Consultancy, won the Asia Business Leader award while the Asia Innovator Award went to M. S. Unnikrishnan of Thermax Ltd, an India-based energy and environment engineering company.

In the area of corporate social responsibility, Choo Chiau Beng, CEO of Singapore-based Keppel Corp, won the award.

The 11th annual CNBC Asia Business Leaders Awards recognises leaders who have helped shape the Asian economy and those who will continue to impact the Asia story in the years ahead, said Satpal Brainch, president and managing director, CNBC International.
