Two outstanding violin and piano recitals

Fans of pianist Usa Napawan and Bangkok-based violinist Jonathon Glonek take note: the duo will give a recital at the British Club on Surawong Road on Wednesday at 7.30pm.

They will perform an intense programme dedicated to three masters _ Tartini's Sonata in G minor, The Devil's Trill, Johannes Brahms' Sonata No.2 in A major in C Minor Opus 23, Pablo De Sarasate's Introduction and Tarantella, plus virtuoso works by Sarasate, Brahms, Heifetz and Novacek.
Usa obtained a master's degree in Piano Performance from the College of Music, Mahidol University. She has attended numerous classes conducted by celebrated pianists such as Peter Amstuz, Albert Sassman, Mikhail Solovei, Boris Berman, Peter Frankl and Barry Snyder. In 2008, Usa performed the complete cycle of Mozart Sonatas with Australian violinist Jonathon Glonek and since then they have performed together at many recitals.
She is currently teaching at the New International School of Thailand and Shrewsbury International School, Bangkok, and she is also a pianist with the Bangkok Music Society choir.

D&M Music Studio and the Embassy of Finland present pianist Linda Hedlund, making her Bangkok debut, with Eri Nakagawa on violin at the Siam Ratchada auditorium on ground floor of Fortune Town Building, Ratchadaphisek Road, on Dec 12 starting at 7.30pm.
Hedlund started taking violin lessons at the age of five. She received a scholarship to Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow where she studied under Prof Sergei Kravtchenko, before moving on to the University for Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. She earned a doctorate in violin performance from the Sibelius Academy, where she also worked as an assistant while still a student. Her academic work was supported by the Victoria Foundation and the Swedish Society of Literature in Finland.
Hedlund has performed successfully as a soloist and chamber musician on many occasions including the prestigious Helsinki Festival, Musica Nova, Grafenegg Festival, Honart Festival Konzerthaus Wien and in Carnegie Hall, New York. She is also a visiting lecturer at the University of Hawaii.
The evening's programme features Gottfried von Einem's Sonata Opus 11, Edward Grieg's Sonata Op 8 F Major, Jean Sibelius's Mazurka, Jean Sibelius's Romance, Armas Jarnefelt's Berceuse, and Oskar Merikanto's Valse Lente.
