Abhisit brushes aside Sukumpol's offer

Democrat Party leader Abhisit Vejjajiva has brushed aside Defence Minister Sukumpol Suwanatat's letter giving him 10 days to submit evidence in defence against an order to remove his military rank for draft-dodging.

Mr Abhisit said he would not follow ACM Sukumpol's advice because he had already filed a petition for the Administrative Court to rule whether the rank-stripping order was illegal and with the National Anti-Corruption Commission.

Moreover, he looked into the law and learned that the rank-stripping order signed by ACM Sukumpol on Nov 8, if legal and already in effect, could not be revoked.

He did not believe ACM Sukumpol really wanted to give him justice.

The Democrat leader called for the defence minister to instead cooperate by going to testify at the Administrative Court and the NACC when summoned.
