Senate debate over two, split days

Senate debate over two, split days

The Senate has agreed to a general debate to grill the government, without a vote, on two split days, Nov 23 and Nov 28, senate deputy chief whip Kamnoon Sitthisamarn said on Wednesday.

On Nov 23, this Friday, the debate would be from 1pm - 8pm.

On Nov 28, the debate would start after the House of Representatives votes on the censure debate against the government and continue until midnight.

Mr Kamnoon said the debate would focus on problems over the rice-pledging scheme and farm prices, southern unrest, water management, and issues such as tourism, education and drugs.

He expected 50-60 senators to take to the floor in turn.  Each would initially be given 10 minutes to speak.
