Post-apocalyptic food survival kits trend on Google this week

With doomsayers getting ready for the world’s demise December 21, internet users have made a food survival kit company that produces meals with a 25-year shelf life the top trending food-related search term on Google this week.

According to Google Trends, as of November 21, 8:30 am GMT, Wise Company, which makes freeze-dried, dehydrated meals for emergency preparedness, experienced a 300 percent increase in online activity over the last seven days.
The Salt Lake City, Utah-based company is capitalizing on the apocalyptic myth that the world will be ending December 21, based on a reading -- actually a misreading, according to experts -- of the Mayan calendar.
Elsewhere, searches for Thanksgiving recipes dominated Google trends as the US hunkered down to celebrate the national holiday on Thursday.
Here are the top rising food-related search terms on Google over the past seven days as of November 21:
