Three soldiers were slightly wounded when attackers fired M79 grenades at an army base near a school in Yala's Bannang Sata district on Monday night.
About 8.30pm militants fired five M79 rounds at the base of Company 7020 of the Yala Task Force 15, which is located near Bacho School in tambon Bacho of Bannang Sata district.
Four of the grenades landed inside the base and exploded, wounding three soldiers.
The other grenade landed outside, damaging the roof of the library building of Bacho School.
Useng Longdewa, the school director, ordered the school closed for one day. The school has 474 students from kindergarten to Prathom Sueksa 6 and 28 teachers.
