Teen killed in jealous brawl

SUPHAN BURI— A 14-year-old boy died after a brawl broke out between two groups of youths over a girl, police said on Tuesday.

Police said the victim and several of his friends called out an 18-year-old boy and his friends to meet at midnight in front of a school.

After the two boys failed to talk it out, they decided to settle their dispute with a fist-fight, one on one.

The younger boy lost the fight but the 18-year-old and friends were not willing to call it quits, according to police. They allegedly followed the victim’s group on motorcycles and confronted them again. Another fight broke out, with the older youths reportedly beating the younger teen groups and badly injuring them.

Police said the victim’s friend took him to his home to hide him, but became concerned and took him to a hospital after the 14-year-old felt chest pains. A doctor who examined the youth told police his body was badly bruised and scratched when he arrived at the emergency room.

Police arrested the 18-year-old, who confessed that he had been in a fist fight with the victim, but denied claims that his friends had ganged up on him.
