Dems seek ethics probe of Prasit

A group of Democrat MPs led by Phussadee Tamthai on Thursday submitted a letter to House Speaker Somsak Kiatsunaront asking him to set up a committee to investigate Prasit Chaisrisa, a Pheu Thai MP for Surin, for verbal abuse used in the House of Representatives during the censure debate yesterday.

Mrs Phussadee said Mr Prasit had insulted Rangsima Rodrassamee, a Democrat MP for Samut Songkhram, and violated Item 28 of the Code of Conduct.

She asked Mr Somsak to investigate Mr Prasit and make a ruling to set a precedent for male MPs to stop making sexual comments about women MPs.

Mr Somsak said he had set up a sub-committee to look into this matter.

Earlier today, Sunisa Lertpakawat, a Pheu Thai deputy spokeswoman, and members of the Kularb Hin group submitted a letter to Mr Somsak condemning Ms Phussadee, saying that the Democrat MP had used inappropriate words during the censure debate.
