Fresh-out-of-jail robbers nabbed

Two men who were only recently released from prison have been arrested for holding people up at knifepoint and stealing cash and valuables.

Police used a tracking app in a stolen phone to locate them.

Santad Chuglin, 28, and Karn Senamongkol, 23, were apprehended on Thursday by police at a cell phone kiosk inside a shopping mall in Bang Kae district of Bangkok. Stolen items found in their possession included a smartphone, a purse and victims' ID cards.

Pol. Lt. Col Kongsak Pannoi, the inspector (inquiry) of Phasicharoen Police Station told Thairath that the suspects were caught just three hours after they robbed their victims at knifepoint and made off with valuables including a purse containing an iPhone4.

One of the victims told the police that there was a positioning app installed on her phone. The investigators then used it to track both men down.

The suspects confessed that they had committed such crime twice since they got out from prison on drug-related offences, according to police.
