Student raped, killed, burned

KALASIN - A missing schoolgirl was found dead and burned behind a police booth in Kuchinarai district of Kalasin, it was reported on Monday.

The girl, 15, was still dressed in a student uniform, with no underwear, and had been strangled. Black sweatpants were still wrapped around her neck. Burn marks were found all over the body, probably made by burning oil, police said.

A medical examination revealed the girl had been hit with a hard object, her jaw was broken and four of her teeth knocked out. Human skin was found under the girl's nails, showing that she resisted her attacker, according to a report in Khao Sod.

Police also found men's underwear near the girl's body, according to the report in Khao Sod.

Police said the body was partly decomposed, and estimated she had been dead for at least 20 days.

The father of the 15 year-old said his daughter had been missing since the night of Nov 5, when she said she was going to see some friends at a market.

The girl never came home, said the father. He reported to the police that his daughter was missing. The police could not find the girl until the body was discovered on Sunday.

Police believe at least two people committed the murder and rape. They said the girl's motorbike was also missing.

Investigators said the burn marks showed that the killers tried to get rid of the body by burning it with oil.

The governor of Kalasin has issued a warning, advising parents to pay close attention to their children's whereabouts, especially after school.
