The Research Centre at Bangkok University surveyed 1,184 people in Bangkok between Nov 30 and Dec 3 about various topics related to the King's 85th birthday on Dec 5.
Around 43% of respondents said they will be "good" and "honest" as a gift to HM the King, while 23.6% said they will light candles wishing His Majesty good health and longevity, and 12.3% will give alms to His Majesty through Buddhist worship and devotion.
By far the largest group, 82.6%, said they will be watching HM the King's appearance on the Sihabanchon balcony of the Ananta Samakhom Throne Hall on television, while 11.2% said they will be there to greet His Majesty at the Grand Audience.
Just over half, 51.5%, said the one teaching by HM the King that is ingrained in their life the most is self sufficiency living.
And 33.6% of respondents said that His Majesty's most renowned achievement in the field of agriculture and water management is the Royal Rainmaking project.
