Recital gets classical Finnish

D&M Music Studio in association with the Embassy of Finland presents a violin and piano recital by Dr Linda Hedlund and Dr Eri Nakagawa at Siam Ratchada music auditorium on Dec 12 starting at 7.30pm.

This is Hedlund's first performance in Bangkok and the programme includes Gottfried von Einem's Sonata Opus 11 (1949), Grieg's Sonata Opus 8 in F major, Sibelius's Mazurka and Romance, Armas Jarnefelt's Berceuse and Oskar Merikanto's Valse Lente.

Linda had her first violin lessons at the age of five and received a scholarship to Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow, Russia, where she studied under Professor Sergei Kravtchenko (1995-96), before moving on to the University for Music and Performing Arts in Vienna, Austria. She holds a doctorate in violin performance from Sibelius Academy in Finland and has been successful at various competitions, having performed both as a soloist as well as a chamber musician at leading festivals in Helsinki, Vienna and New York.

In addition to being a performing artist, the violinist has maintained her academic career. She is a visiting scholar at the University of Hawaii, and while in Bangkok she teaches students pursuing a master's degree in music.


The Siam Ratchada music auditorium is on the ground floor of Fortune Town Bldg on Ratchadaphisek Road. Tickets for the concert cost 500 baht (250 baht for students) and can be purchased at Robinson Piano Showroom at Siam Discovery (tel 02-658-1080/1) and at the door. Call 081-682-8000.
