Moshe David, 35, who also holds Thai nationality, was arrested while standing in front of an ATM machine at the MBK shopping centre in Bangkok Wednesday.

He was wanted by the police in connection with the murder of Peter Reisz in Phuket on Nov 24.

According to Pol Lt Gen Yongyuth Charoenwanit, commissioner of Provincial Police Region 8, the suspect was withdrawing cash from an ATM, apparently to prepare his escape from the country. The suspect wore a yellow shirt and blended in among people who wore yellow in honour of His Majesty the King's birthday.

Police in Kathu district of Phuket Wednesday searched a two-storey townhouse at the Phanason Housing Estate in tambon Wichit of Muang district, the suspected scene of the murder. Investigators have learned Mr David rented the house for two days, Nov 23-24. Footage from surveillance cameras show that Reisz, 47, drove into the housing estate at 5pm on Nov 24.

Police believe Mr David lured Reisz to the house to kill him and that he had at least one accomplice.

Pol Maj Gen Chote Chawalwiwat, Phuket police chief, said police have sought an arrest warrant for (phonetically) Kvalka Lajos Gyoergy, who also has been identified as a suspect in the murder.

Police said they found blood stains in the living room, kitchen and a toilet on the first floor of the house.

Reisz's body was found on Nov 30 in a black plastic bag at a rubber plantation behind the Soi Bang Thong Housing Estate in Kathu district.

Investigators believe the victim, who lived in a rented house in tambon Sri Sunthorn of Phuket's Thalang district, had business conflicts with colleagues on Koh Samui. Police said Mr David threatened to kill Reisz after he was caught forging the signatures of Mr David and his mother to sell a plot of land worth about 15 million baht. Reisz and Mr David ran a company together.
