B66m for armoured vehicles approved

The cabinet on Tuesday approved a request by the Royal Thai Police Office for 66 million baht from the central fund to buy 33 one-tonne armoured double-cab vehicles for use in the deep South, government spokesman Tossaporn Serirak said.

Of the total, 27 would replace old vehicles which had been in use for more than eight years and six would replace those damaged in field operations.

The spokesman said the new vehicles would also boost the morale of police operating in the southern border provinces.
