Threats to global peace and security have intensified since the 20th century, ranging from nuclear war, climate change, and global terrorism to global health epidemics and financial crisis.
‘‘A Culture of Peace’’ aims to provoke meaningful dialogue.
While worrying, these threats to global peace might also provide the impetus for a new kind of collective commitment and cooperation, for new approaches to innovation and creativity and in the process, the cultivation of a culture of peace.
And to celebrate the great potential of cooperation and creativity to address the many challenges we face as part of a rapidly changing world, Thailand Knowledge Park (TK Park) is hosting "A Culture of Peace" event, during which interested people are encouraged to share ideas, experiences and inspirations with nine speakers _ comprising influential intellectuals, philosophers and practitioners from Bangkok and the Asia-Pacific region.
Presented by TEDx on Saturday from 12.30-6pm, the discussion features three sessions, each of which is conducted in English and Thai by three speakers who will help spark new and creative ideas on how a culture of peace can be achieved. During and after the event, there will be plenty of opportunity for networking.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a programme of local, self-organised events that bring people together to share their experiences.
At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The world's leading thinkers and doers are asked to talk about their lives in 18 minutes.
With the support of Thailand's TK Park, presentations will be filmed and made available to the public as part of a collection of ideas that are truly worth spreading.
