Woman murdered, throat slit

SAKON NAKHON - A missing woman was found dead in a field on Tuesday night, believed raped and murdered, police said on Wednesday.

Pranee Toonok, 49, was wearing no pants and her throat was slit, said police.

A pair of red pants was found on the ground not far from the woman's body. Police also found footprints they believe were left by her killer, or killers.

Police said the victim's body was still warm, indicating she had been murdered not long before her body was found.

Crime scene investigators said there appeared to have been one or two attackers, and they were most likely   locals.

Police said they found other evidence at the scene but would not make it public at this stage.

The victim's relatives said Pranee had been missing since Tuesday morning. They had asked other villagers to help search for her.

Police believed Pranee was raped and murdered. A post mortem examination was scheduled..
