With the rise of the digital era, Siam Piwat Co, the operator of Siam Center and Siam Discovery Center, is riding the wave by setting up an e-commerce firm. With 1 million baht of registered capital, Digimedia Marketing Co will supervise activities related to digital technology including online shopping, electronic marketing and social media.

Marketing executive Muenfun Thanyaphaisit said Siam Piwat has spent more than 20 million baht to harness the power of digital media by introducing Siamism, its online shopping channel.
At www.siamism.com, customers can shop for fashion and accessories, stationery, gifts, lifestyle items, IT products and gadgets, beauty products and other items from more than 200 shops.
Ms Muenfun said Siam Center and Siam Discovery are the first shopping complexes in Thailand to offer online shopping, although two department stores, Central Department Store and The Mall Group, have the service.
Products available at Siamism will be different from those on offer at the two shopping centres. They will include limited editions, while prices will be lower than those in the centres.
The company will offer ideal products to online shoppers, have 90% discounts each day and introduce schemes such as Spinfeature, which gives customers a chance to win products or discounts.
Since its soft launch in October, Siamism has had 100,000 visits per month, double the number projected. Its number of members has reached 37,000, far in excess of the projection of 10,000.
The company expects the number of monthly visitors to reach 500,000, of whom 30% will buy products online.
Online shopping is initially available to domestic shoppers but will be extended to foreign shoppers next year.
Siam Piwat expects online sales to be worth about 10 million baht in the first year of operation.
