Renowned author, translator and columnist Ploy Chariyaves recently launched her 17th book Aqua Paradise featuring nine of her favourite water-side travel destinations around the globe.

AQUA PARADISE
By Ploy Chariyaves, 333 pp, 425 baht, ISBN 978-616-77570-1, Available at leading bookstores

Presented in a journal-writing style and with charmingly lovely illustrations, the 333-page volume is divided into 10 chapters. The writer's nine water-side destinations include Lake Como in Italy; Norway's historic towns and King of Fjord; Venice's grand canal; Bruges and Ghent in Belgium; Salzburg in Austria; Camogli and Santa Margherita in Italy; Monaco; Oia in Greece and, finally, Maldives.

Each destination is presented with fun-to-read explanation and practical travelling tips. It is also accompanied by recommended mode of transportation, accommodation and special treats in the areas.

The author conceded that she felt her book was presented somewhat through a feminine perspective; she therefore invited five special male guests who told their stories and favourite water-side destinations in the last chapter "His Paradise". Voicing their fascinating travelling experiences are film director Songyoth Sukmakanand, graphic designer Pakorn Rujiravilai, bakery operator and vocal artist Uthai "Cake B5" Poonyamund, a day magazine editor Songklod Bangyikhan and founder of event organising company Id-Idea Natthawut Rojjanapanthakul.

Even though some of the destinations featured in this volume do not sound familiar, or travelling to those spots might probably strain your wallet, Aqua Paradise is still a good read which is, in all, not just a mere travelling manual but also a personal record in which interesting memories are well elaborated.
