The cabinet has approved four billion baht bonus package for government employees as recommended by the Office of the Public Sector Development Commission (PSDC).
Government spokesman Tossaporn Serirak said the bonuses will be paid out to civil servants, employees of provincial administrations and state higher education institutions.
Government agencies, provincial administrations and the universities can also convert left over budget funds from the previous fiscal year into state employees' bonuses without having to seek permission from the Budget Bureau, he said.
